A 23-year-old UC Irvine student died Friday night from injuries sustained during a car accident. The student was waiting to cross a street when she was hit in the head with debris from a car crash.
The debris from the wreck flew to the northwest corner of the sidewalk where Hoke was standing. She was rushed to Santa Ana’s Western Medical Center Trauma Center.
The drivers of the other cars were uninjured, according to the report.
No charges have been pressed against the juvenile driver at this time and an investigation is ongoing, police said Wednesday.
Hoke was a California community radio station host of The Exposure, which broadcast from KUCI on the UCI campus Friday afternoons in the winter and spring of 2010.
“KUCI extends its condolences to Jessica’s family and friends,” a statement from KUCI reads. “In her short stay at KUCI, Jessica brought tremendous inspiration and joy to the station.”
Hoke’s organs were donated through a transplant donor network.
